Audition/Show Info Session - Wednesday April 29th 7:00pm at the Chehalem Cultural Center Black Box Theatre
Interested in auditioning but have questions or are new to theatre? Come to our Info Session the day before auditions to get all your questions answered! We want people of all experience levels - people who have never done a play before, people who have done many, and anywhere in-between - to join us for this show! This is also a great event to attend if you want to be involved in the show in other ways like as a vendor, tabling nonprofit organization, or sponsor and want to get connected!

Performances: August 6-9 & 13-16: Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 6:00pm, Fridays at 9:00pm - on the forecourt of the Chehalem Cultural Center
Pay for each actor is $1,000
Ages 14+
Actors will not be called for every hour of every rehearsal. Actors are expected to be AVAILABLE for all hours of the rehearsal schedule, except for any conflicts indicated before accepting a role.
Auditions will be held at the Chehalem Cultural Center. Fill out this form to sign up for a 5 minute audition slot. Auditionees should prepare 30-60 seconds of a song and a 60-90 second monologue. Please also bring a printed picture of yourself that you love and plan to arrive early or stay late to share some more info with us on an audition form. NOTE: This show will be rehearsed and performed outdoors. Communal involvement will be necessary to help set up and tear down the space as it is used. Actors will be asked to help set up and tear down set and props used during rehearsals and performances with outdoor conditions and individual capacity and ability recognized and considered.
Characters
Jazzlyn: Female 20-25 years old. The oldest sister of a Mexican family. She sells second-hand clothes that her mother upcycles with her sister Veli. A natural-born and rising leader in the community. Girlfriend of Tiana.
Veli: Female 14-17 years old. Mexican. Dropped out of school to help sell second-hand clothes that her mother upcycles with her older sister, Jazzlyn.
Rafa: Male 16-25 years old. Mexican immigrant. Proudly sells raspados (shaved ice) from an old cart just like his dad did. Loves to dance. Flirty.
Jo: Male or female 16-25 years old. Filipino. Child of immigrants. Sells the Filipino dessert, Halo-Halo. Loves to dance. Flirty.
Hollowbot: Any Gender. Any age. A robot invented by Jo to serve the Filipino dessert, Halo-Halo.
Tiana: Female. 20-25 years old. Person of Color. A fun-loving artist in the community. Her DJ persona is DJ Tiangis. Girlfriend of Jazzlyn.
Lulu: Female. 55-70 years old. Mexican or Mexican-American artisan who hand-makes and sells piñatas. Was at the Delano canning strike in 1970.
Muchascosas: Male or Female. Person of color 30s-50s. Speaks some Spanish. The landlord of the property on which the swap meet rests. He’s here to make his money, not to make friends. Thinks he is very charming.
Ensemble: A variety of performers comfortable with singing, some choreography, and improvising with audience participation.
